Gabriel’s yoga journey began in 2003 when a dear friend brought him to a beginner Bikram hot yoga class. She didn’t say much about what hot yoga was…or anything at all, really. It was exactly what he was looking for, challenging and incredibly invigorating.
Coming from a background in sports, dance, and martial arts, he was intuitively drawn to the harmony of movement and breath that the yoga techniques required. He soon began a regular Hatha yoga practice, in order to heal his reoccurring, sports-related injuries.
The yoga practice, he soon realized, is consistently effective as a tool for physical health, mental well-being and spiritual growth. He developed a thirst for knowledge and his practice deepened. To help quench his thirst, he delved into the postures as well as sacred texts such as the Yoga Sūtras by Patañjali, the Bhagdavat Gita, and Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda.
The effects of yoga began to reconfigure his life goals: he now felt a deep desire to share with others the therapeutic benefits of yoga that he, himself, was experiencing. He attended his first teacher training spring 2009 in California. Following the training, he travelled across the USA, Europe, South America, and Canada, teaching and practicing yoga.
His classes are both challenging and fun. He loves teaching beginners and equipping students with the tools they need to gain and maintain radiant health, a better understanding of their own anatomy, and heightened perception and intuition. He is sincerely grateful to his teachers and their lineage, his students, and is honoured to share the teachings, to hold space for others, and to serve in the spirit of yoga.
